I love a good deal!

So this might be pretty minor, but it still left me with that great feeling after I find a good deal!!

Friday night after the kids were in bed I went up to Family Video to rent a movie. This is something we have not done in a long time! Chad has been working on the basement a lot of evenings over the past few months or we are gone.... I was pleased to see that many of the new releases that we didn't get a chance to see in the theater were available.

I grabbed Slumdog Millionare and went to the counter to pay. She asked for my phone number and said "you haven't been in for a while." right. She said "since last August?" probably. "Well, I am going to give you this movie free and then you will get movies at half off for the next two weeks." Great!! She said that if someone hasn't been in for more than 90 days, they offer this deal as a way to get you to come back in.

We enjoyed the movie. I was really glad it had a good ending - something this kid really needed after every thing that happened to him (that is all I will say, incase you haven't seen the movie!)

So of course when I took this movie back on Saturday I picked up another movie, Nights in Rodanthe. I wanted to see this movie because of where it takes place, The Outer Banks NC - a family favorite vacation spot. And I love a good romance movie. I took this movie up to the counter (Andrew was with me too. The kids DVDs at this video store are free, so he picked one up too as a reward for doing a good job with his family chores this week) This time they said they were running a special on Nights in Rodanthe for one night rental for 75 cents!

We got three DVD rentals this weekend for a grand total of 80 cents! We will more than likely be watching more movies this weekend to take advantage of our half off for this two week period. Then we will probably wait another 90 days before going back so we can have this sweet deal again! (Am I cheap or what???)

Does anyone have any advice as to what we should rent? I would like to see Marley and Me or The Reader or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button -is that out on DVD yet?

Oh, I forgot to mention that I also got this great pair of black yoga/comfy/"racing day" (what Andrew refers his sweats to because of Backyardigans Race around the world episode...racing day it's racing day...) pants at J.C.Penney for $4.97 and a cute little summery shirt for $7.97! Love it. J.C.Penney isn't exactly my favorite store but it about all we have here!!

Marley and Me is really good. The Reader is out right now - that's one on my "to see list" too. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button comes out in a couple weeks. Also on my "to see list." :)

We saw The Curious... in the theatre. It was different, but Brad is so easy to watch :)

benjamin button and the reader were both really good. if you have to choose between them, the reader is best.

we also loved Knowing. a look at how science and religion are both right and both incomplete. i love sci fi, so if you don't, not sure if you'll like it.

i can't wait for "angels and demons". and for the prequel to all the star trek movies. can't remember the name ... not out yet.

since our kids are now paying their own way in life, we go see movies as soon as they are out. so i'll be your source on what's good. :D
