4 months old

Here is Alex on Sept. 2 ~ 4 months old.

Alex had his 4 month old visit on 9/6/11.  He is a little bit, weighing in at 12# 4 oz. (10%) and length 23 1/4 (3%).  He is growing on his own little growth scale.  Funny that he was born the biggest of our three boys, but I'm pretty sure he is the littlest at 4 months.

His visit went well.  His stool was negative for blood this time. (yay!)  He does have some eczema in his creases, most obvious in the creases at his ankles.  We are applying some cream to those areas.  He had his first little cold...Carson had croup ~ actually spent some time in the ER for it, needing steroids and a breathing treatment.  So Alex then got croup but not as bad thankfully.  After receiving his shots, Alex did get a fever for a few days and acted pretty miserable one afternoon.

Overall I am pleased with how he is doing.  I am still avoiding all dairy, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, corn and wheat.  This can be quite difficult but it certainly helped me loose all the pregnancy pounds and then some.  Definitely the fastest weight lost of all three pregnancies.  No worries, Kettle Brand kettle chips are okay for baby Alex and I have been eating quite a lot of them.  So I can't possibly loose that much!  Alex is super happy most of the time, his stools are no longer green (usually), he does continue to spit up but the volume and frequency is much less.  He often sleeps from between 7-8pm until 7 am, some nights he does wake up to nurse once but goes back to sleep pretty easily.  He doesn't seem to be sucking his thumb anymore.  He often has his fingers or whole fist in his mouth while he is awake.  Today he was sucking his middle and ring finger with his thumb curled up under his chin and his index and pinkie fingers extended up onto his cheeks.  :)  So his new preferred sleep position looks like this...

Sometimes I barely have him placed in his bouncy seat before he turns his head to the left and puts his left arm up on his forehead.  (Yes, he is still sleeping in the bouncy seat, but I have taken step one and moved his bouncy seat into his crib)

What a cutie he is!! And so glad his stool was negative for blood this time and it sounds like overall things are going better - less green poop and spitting up. Good for you for putting the bouncy seat in his actual crib - we still have Anna in the bouncy seat, in the pack n play, in our room. :) All in due time...

Each time I see Carson's pictures, he makes me smile. His face lights up when he smiles!
