Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries!!

Last Tuesday evening Chad, the boys and I went and picked strawberries. We picked 19# of strawberries. The boys helped for a little while but then played inbetween the rows of strawberries or in the car. The strawberries were tiny but tastey. Wednesday for supper we had strawberry shortcake and then made 8 batches of strawberry jam. We froze the rest of the berries for smoothies.

Then Friday I went to a local Amish farm and bought 12 quarts of strawberries. These strawberries were so much larger than the ones we picked and very delicious. I think I will return to this Amish farm in years to come; the strawberries were already picked, much nicer and less expensive!!

I made this strawberry pie to share with my sister, Tricia and Justin were here this weekend. (more to come on that) We also enjoyed this wonderful Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp recipe. Tric and I made jam for them with 4 quarts of the strawberries, we ate some fresh and froze the rest. I'm actually thinking about getting some more, if they are still available. I love fresh strawberries!!
