So the space I'm wondering about is this....
the space above the kitchen cabinets and below the ceiling. What do you do with this space? The items that you see here in these pictures have been there the two and half years that we have lived in this house. When we were unpacking boxes and came across a certain item that I wasn't sure where to put it, we put it up there. And that is where it has sat for two and a half years!
That is until this past Friday night. I had enough of these randomly placed items and removed them all.
Aahh...that's better!!

If you want to make it all warm and fuzzy you could always put your favorite family photos up there, and add some nice greenery/fruity viny stuff to fill in the spaces. Add some nice black pieces to tie in your appliances as well.
I laughed when I read your post Kristi, because I feel the same way about decorating (I can appreciate a well-decorated home, but don't feel like I make my own thematic.) I also did exactly the same thing you did in the kitchen in our OH house! :) The place we're renting now doesn't have that space, so it isn't an issue for me right now. Let me know what you decide to do!
