Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

I made these cookies this afternoon. I got the recipe from Sarah's blog and I think she got the recipe from Martha Stewart Living. (Thanks for sharing this great recipe Sarah!) These are very tasty & so soft. I really like my mom's chocolate chip cookie recipe and my aunt Shirley's (maybe they are the same recipe actually? ~ I'm not sure.) This recipe ranks right up there with theirs.

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Makes about 2 dozen

1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 t. coarse salt
1/4 t. soda
7 T. unsalted butter, room temperature
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
3 T. sour cream
3/4 c. semisweet chips
3/4 c. milk chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. Beat butter and sugars with a mixer on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, 3-5 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla. Reduce speed on low. Add flour mixture in 2 batches, alternating with sour cream, and beat until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips by hand. Cover, and freeze for 10 minutes.
Drop onto baking sheets and flatten slightly. Bake 12-14 minutes.

Andrew helped me make them, mostly turning on and off the mixer or adjusting the speed for me. He gets really upset if I adjust it. He also enjoyed licking the batter off the beaters when we were finished. I told him he was lucky that Chad wasn't home because he would fight Andrew for the beaters. Chad came home when Andrew was still cleaning them off. As soon as Chad walked in the door, Andrew said "I don't want you to fight me." Chad was a bit perplexed till I explained! This is a picture of Carson enjoying his cookie.

This is a picture of Carson after I told him he couldn't have another cookie! (Not a very nice mother to first deny him another cookie and then take a picture of him when he is so upset!)
