We had a great Memorial Day Weekend. (I forgot the camera this weekend ~ no photos,aw shucks!) Friday night we drove to my parents' house and spent the night there. The first thing the boys always want to do when they arrive there is go down in the basement to play with all of our old toys. At one point Andrew started running up the stairs from the basement and said to Grandma "I'll be back in a jimmy!" Saturday morning we all walked down to the park for some playtime. Andrew road a trike that my grandpa had made and my siblings and I used to ride. We had lunch with my parents and then were on our way to the next stop.
We went to our sister-in-law's graduation from seminary. It was great to be there & celebrate with her. We enjoyed spending time with Chad's immediate family members as well as a few of his aunts and uncles and grandfather that live in the area. We all went out to eat that evening. Andrew & Carson were a bit worn out from all the traveling, poor napping; so dinner was a bit of a challenge. Grandma and Grandpa Kauffman willingly helped out taking Carson outside for walks.
Our next stop was Rob and Sarah's house. We always enjoy spending time with them. This was the first time we were with them when all four of our boys could actually play together. So much fun to see them interact. I wish I had pictures of them. They were so cute together. We spent Sat. & Sunday night there. We went to their church Sunday morning. Jonah was so cute ~ he was excited that he had a guest to take to Sunday school with him. We were able to see more friends from college there and my cousin Brent. Sun. night Jeff & Jen, also friends from college, came over for a cook-out with their 3 boys....that makes 7 boys ages 6,5,4,3,2,1 &1!! It was only quiet for a few minutes while the boys ate. Rob & Chad enjoyed a game of golf Monday morning while Sarah, the kids and I played outside, went for a walk and then went to the park. We ran into my cousin Darin there with his daughter Maija. What a nice surprise!
We headed home Monday afternoon. We had a great time catching up with friends and family. (We also wish we could have more time while we are in that area because of all the friends and family we have there ~ sorry we missed seeing some of you! Next time.) It made me really miss those relationships! I have met quite a few people here since our move but it isn't quite the same. It just takes lots of time and common experiences to nurture those close relationships. Patience, my child, patience.
